Dr. Jason Thoms is the Director of Choral Activities at
Dr. Thoms has taught at the secondary and undergraduate levels in
In the past years Dr. Thoms reputation
as a bass-baritone increased throughout the Eastern US. He performes frequently as soloist in professional,
collegiate, community concerts and local opera companies. Recently, Jason had his Coarnegie Hall debut as soloist in the FaureRequiem with Dr. Anton Armstrong, conductor. On May 19, 2009 Jason will have his Carnegie Hall conducting debut when the Concordia
Tour Choir gives its Germnay Tour Home Concert in the Weill Recital Hall. In January 2009 Jason will sing the role of Don Pasquale
with the Westside Opera Society and in February Jason will creat the role of John Wilkes Booth for the World Premier of The Moustache in
Annapolis, MD. Jason has also recently sung the roles of : Marullo and Ceprano in Rigoletto, Sciarrone inTosca, Benoit and Alcindoro in La Boheme, and Masetto in Don Giovanni. He has been bass soloist for Mozart’sVesperae Solennes De Confessore, Mass in F, Requiem, Grand Mass in C and Pilate and the bass solos in the Bach St. John
Passion.
Dr. Thoms has studied choral conducting with Anton Armstrong, Robert Scholz, Charles K. Smith, David Rayl, Jonathan
Reed and Simon Carrington, and instrumental conducting with Tim Mahr, Steven Amundson and Leon Gregorian. He has studied voice
with Tony Holt, Alison Feldt, James McKeel, Elaine Cencel, and Catherine Mazzone.
